Common Names - Names


Name is a noun that is used to uniquely identify any person place or object either living or non living. It could be used to identify the object singly or a group or particular class in a given context. The term Etymology is defined as the study of the origins of words i.e. etymology of a word refer to as the history of that word linguistically or how old a word is how that word created and of what parts it comprises of. Now certain languages have different types of names mostly the names are referred to as the powerful or strong object or having heroic image. Ancient people generally had the perception that names have a very powerful impact on the characteristic of the object or the person. Now as the time passes particular names were given to particular class of people having a particular characteristic prominent in them like the surname or the last name. Names also evolved with the passage of time some were common in the eighteen century are not even used today. There are certain naming conventions used to put the names into a systematic order so that information of similar type could be understood and written in same way to remove the ambiguity. Astronomical names have different nomenclature, Roman naming conventions are different, in the field of science systematic names of variety of objects, in field of computer there is vast addition of names on daily basis as the technology evolves and are known as computer naming schemes. Religious names are also a main part of different names in different part of the world like Adam is considered to be the first man on earth by Christian Jews and Muslims. David is religious name for Christian , similarly Chris in the starting of any name represents the religion of the person i.e. of Christianity. Jews did not have surnames on the basis of there characteristics of bravery or humbleness or wise, they have there surname or the last name as the first name of there father like (David ben Yishay) meaning, David, son of Jesse. Nowadays most of the Muslims have similar names having last name the first name of their father.
